Our mission
Access to books. Support for thoughtful reading.
Our purpose is to advance education and literacy for the public benefit by acquiring and distributing books and educational materials to schools, libraries, and educational organizations, and by conducting related educational and literary programs.
AncientReads is ELR's online educational initiative, not a separate charity. Its tools and guides help readers move from curiosity to a text they can understand, question, and discuss.

Start with what your readers need.
A useful collection reflects its readers: their interests, reading levels, languages, and access needs. Our collection-planning guide helps institutions identify a focused need before ordering or accepting books.
